Course Description

This 2-week clerkship is designed to help the student develop proficiency in common anesthesiology procedures, including airway management and intravenous cannulation.

Teaching with attending physicians and residents occurs in conferences, the operating room, at the bedside, and in small groups.

The goals of the course are:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in common anesthesiology procedures, including airway management and intravenous cannulation.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in the approach to preoperative evaluation of patients to anesthesia.

Evaluation

The Anesthesiology evaluation is based on feedback from faculty and residents and a written exam. Anesthesiology evaluations are split equally (50% each) on clinical performance and in-house exam.
