Standardized Patient Application

All prospective Standardized Patients are asked to complete an online job application through the Office of Human Resources at the University of Pittsburgh (PittSource). Once this is complete, prospective candidates will be called for an interview and audition.

We hire one time a year, usually late summer or early fall, depending on the needs of the program. If a candidate is hired as an SP, they will be selected based on the needs of the School of Medicine curriculum and the requirements of the case being portrayed. There are no guarantees about the cases that are available and not everyone is suited for every role. Before SPs can be used in sessions with students, either in small group classrooms or for testing, they will spend anywhere from five to fifteen hours training for a case. Once trained, the SP will be required to successfully demonstrate their character before seeing students.

If you want to get started right away, follow the instructions below on how to use PittSource to create an application and attach the application to the Standardized Patient position.
