Course Description

This course will focus on diseases and conditions of musculoskeletal disorders. Building upon basic concepts and mechanisms that were introduced in prior courses, students will learn about common and clinically significant conditions.

Course Objectives

For students to learn the characteristics and pathophysiology of common diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The course is intended as a basic introduction in which selected conditions are presented as models, and where students may learn both the details of the specific conditions and also become familiar with clinical treatments and management .

By the end of this course, students will be able to: Formulate a differential diagnosis for musculoskeletal complaints; Perform a standard physical examination across all musculoskeletal systems; and Make a correct diagnosis for common orthopaedic conditions.

Daily quizzes (open book)

Final examination

Grading is Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory. Students who obtain a score of 32 or greater on the daily quizzes will be EXEMPT from the final examination. The cutoff score for passing the final exam is 70%.
