Maria Garcia, M.Ed

Maria Garcia is a Curriculum Specialist with first and second year medical student classes, course directors, and faculty. She is responsible for the conduct of the MS-1 and MS-2 curricula and coordinates the inter-clerkship courses.

Maria graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master's in Higher Education Administration. In addition, she received a dual Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Communication from Slippery Rock University. Before joining OMED, Maria worked as a director for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, raising awareness for youth development and social responsibility in low-income areas of Pittsburgh.

In her free time Maria advises several undergraduate student organizations and is the 2018-2019 recipient of the Cheryl Paul Professional Academic Mentor of the Year Award for her work with Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity. The Cheryl Paul Professional Academic Mentor of the Year Award recognizes the efforts of the Professional Academic Mentor who gives their time and talents to chapters and the Greek Community at Pitt to meet the academic and professional needs of the community.
