Beginning with the second year Class of 1999, it has become a tradition at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine for pre-clinical students to recognize faculty educators for their valued contributions and dedication to teaching. In the fundamentals of basic science and organ systems pathophysiology blocks, the following categories are awarded: Course Director, Lecturer, Small Group Facilitator.
The nomination and selection processes are overseen by the Student Curriculum Committee Representatives. Awardees are generally announced in the spring of each year.
