Course Description

This course introduces students to the underlying pathophysiology and phenomenology of musculoskeletal disorders, presenting basic approaches to assessment and management, to prepare them for clinical rotations.

Course Objectives​

For students to learn the characteristics and pathophysiology of common diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The course is intended as a basic introduction in which selected conditions are presented as models, and where students may learn both the details of the specific conditions and also become familiar with clinical treatments and management .

By the end of this course, students will be able to: Formulate a differential diagnosis for musculoskeletal complaints; Perform a standard physical examination across all musculoskeletal systems; and make a correct diagnosis for common orthopaedic conditions.

Evaluation

Evaluation for this course is based on a cumulative, graded Summative exam.
